Just over 20 years ago, a forward thinking real estate executive envisioned an upscale residential community where others saw an abandoned industrial island and a downtown waterfront area dotted with dilapidated warehouses. And so the vision began. In 1983, ground was broken and the timeworn Seddon Island made way for Harbour Island, and a promise of luxury homes, shops and offices in the heart of downtown Tampa. While the vision of Harbour Island was ahead of its time, the rest of the world caught up. Where else can you live on a tropical Island oasis in the heart of a downtown metropolis? Life is Good!
Harbour Island, a master planned community, is directly linked to Downtown Tampa by two bridges. Residences are located within walking distance of numerous commercial, retail, entertainment and dining establishments, which include the Channelside Entertainment Complex, the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, the Florida Aquarium, the St. Pete Times Forum, Knights Point and the Tampa Convention Center. Harbour Island is located minutes away from I-275, the historic Tampa Theatre in downtown Tampa, the Tampa Crosstown Expressway, historic Ybor City and the Tampa International Airport.
On the Western shore line, you are afforded views of University of Tampa rowing team at practice, kayackers, all manner of small craft, cruise ships Photo courtesy of Dan Perez, Photographer and even an occasional paddle boat. Or you can take an amphibious land and water tour of the historic and downtown Tampa area with a cruise & dinner aboard the Starship Dinner Cruise. |
